Delmont King Obituary
Chiefland, FL - Delmont G. King, age 84, passed away on January 23, 2009 in Gainesville, Fl. He was born on January 1, 1925 in Chiefland, Fl to Charles and Etta King. He was raised and lived all his life in Chiefland, Fl. He served and retired from the United States Navy. He was the owner and operator of West Central Florida Insurance Agency. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Chiefland. He was a member of the VWF Rebel Post #5625, Brown Lodge #51, Suwannee River Shriners Club, a charter member of the Chiefland Golf and Country Club, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, and enjoyed traveling in his RV. He is survived by his wife Dorothy A. "Aline" King, daughters Sandra "Sandie" D. King, Deah B. King, brothers Charles P. King, William Delano King, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Charles P. King Sr., mother Etta L. King, son Lawrence D. "Larry" King, sister Louise Hinds, brothers Charles L. King, Harry J. King, James A. King, and Hubert L. King.
Visitation for Mr. King will be held on January 26, 2009 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland.
Funeral services will be held on January 27, 2009 at 1:30 pm at the 1St Baptist Church in Chiefland, Fl, with Reverend Bob Black Officiating. Interment is to follow at Chiefland Cemetery. Family requests in Lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital thru the Suwannee River Shriners Club.
Arrangements are under the care of Knauff Funeral Home-Chiefland.
