Jo Ruth Baird Chambers

CHAMBERS, JO RUTH BAIRD, 73 Gainesville - Jo Ruth Baird Chambers, Age 73, passed away on Sunday, December 10, 2006 at E.T. York Hospice Care Center. She was born in Levy County, FL on June 11, 1933. Jo Ruth attended Levy County schools prior to moving to Newberry, FL where she graduated from Newberry High School in 1951. She worked for Sears Roebuck & Co. for 23 years before taking a position at University Physicians, where she retired as a supervisor after 19 years of service in 1995. Jo Ruth was a member of Parkview Baptist Church where she enjoyed attending her Sunday School Class. She was a devoted wife, of 51 years, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and is survived by her loving husband, Ralph LaVaughn Chambers; a daughter, Sharon Moats of Gainesville; two sons: Randall LaVaughn Chambers and wife Susan of Gainesville and Gregory R. Chambers of Gainesville; one grandson, Jason Edenfield and one great-granddaughter; two sisters: Ruby L Marlow of Newberry, FL and Elsie Porter of Tampa, FL; She was predeceased in death by her parents, Austin and Della Baird, brothers, Edgar, Carl, and A.H. Baird and sisters, Lillie Mae English, Lena Croft, Geneva Turner, and Naomi Hare. A celebration of the life of Jo Ruth will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 11:00 at Parkview Baptist Church, 3403 NW 13th Street, Gainesville. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 from 6 8 PM at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave., Gainesville and one hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish to make donations may do so to E.T. York Hospice Care Center, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
