Gainesville - Julia Stemmle Rodriguez, age 61 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at her home. She was born in Louisville, Kentucky on March 14, 1953. Julia worked as a Senior Public Assistance Specialist for the Department of Children and Families. She worked for many years providing for the needs of the homeless.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Schammert, brothers, Eugene C. (Janet) Stemmle, Jr., James T. (Pat) Stemmle, Denis J. (Dee) Stemmle, sister-in-law, Eloise, grandchildren, David, Rachael and Jordan Schammert.
She was preceded in death by her brother, David.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Faith Catholic Church, 747 N.W. 43rd Street. Burial will follow in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends Monday, January 12, 2015 from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606. Please visit Julia's memorial page at
