Keith McCray
Gainesville - Keith McCray, 54, passed away March 13, 2021 in Coconut Creek, FL. A Gainesville native, he is a graduate of Eastside High School, "Class of 1984" and Florida A&M University. After FAMU Keith taught in Alachua, Broward, and Dade County school systems with a particular fondness for his tenure at A.Quin Jones Exceptional Student Center in Gainesville. Keith later became an Entrepreneur in the Cyber Security & Network Engineering Industry creating D&K Enterprises of South Florida with his wife Diana. Keith's mission was to educate African American men about opportunities in engineering and to leave a legacy of generational wealth for his children and grandchildren.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving wife, Diana McCray; six children: Kamisha (Atlanta, GA), Jordan (Miramar, FL), Imani (Atlanta, GA), Janiah and Josi-ah – Orlando, FL, and Jared (Miramar, FL); one grandchild: Milo McCray (Atlanta, GA). His parents, Earl and Cynthia McGinnis, Sr (Gainesville), in-loves Richard and Sherron Richards-Benitez (Tamarac, FL); Siblings Reggie "Hash" Goode (Richmond, VA), Earl McGinnis, Jr. (Darrcelle) – Dacula, GA, and Brian (Jamila) – Ocala, FL; a devoted and adored grandmother – Loretta McCray (Flemington, FL), proceeded him in death paternal grandmother, Willobie Howell- McGinnis; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousin, dear friends, mentees, and business associates.
A Celebration of Life Service for Keith will begin10am on Saturday, March 24, 2021 at Citizens Field, 1400 NE 8th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601, with Rev. Earl McGinnis officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 26, 2021 3:00pm – 7:00pm at Chestnut Memorial Chapel, and on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Family members are asked to meet at the home of his parents Earl & Cynthia McGinnis, 908 S.E. 18th Terr. Gainesville, FL at 9:15 a.m. for the cortege. The McCray & McGinnis family will host family and friends for a repast immediately following the service at The Elks Lodge, 2424 NW 23rd Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32605.
Social Distancing and wearing of mask is recommended by the CDC and the Alachua County Emergency Order, 2020-05. Masks will be provided on site by the Chestnut Funeral Home staff.
