LANSING ROY Obituary
Lansing John Roy, age 78, went to be with his Savior on January 21, 2019 surrounded by his wife and children in St. Augustine, Florida following a lengthy illness. Born in Utica, NY to George and Dorothy Roy, he is survived by his sister Suzanne Green, his brother Bill Roy, his devoted wife of 53 years, JoAnn Roy, 6 children: Matthew Roy (Melinda), Jennifer Knight (Tommy), Mark Roy (Jessica), Elizabeth Conte (David), Luke Roy (Karen), John Roy and 11 grandchildren.
He served as a US Marine in the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam. He had served in the Cursillo since 1975, was a member of San Sebastian Catholic Church and supported many other faith based ministries over the years. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and mentor to many. Being licensed in the Florida State Supreme Court, he served as a Federal Bankruptcy Court Attorney for 41 years in the Northern and Middle District of Florida, where he impacted so many lives, as he felt it was a calling by God. He was an avid Detroit Tigers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Florida Gators fan and love to play golf. He was resilient, generous, compassionate, loving, brilliant, humble and a great friend. Many will certainly miss him.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Promise To Kate Foundation. Visitation will be Friday, January 25th 5:30pm with a prayer service beginning at 7:00pm at Craig Funeral Home 1475 Old Dixie Hwy, St Augustine, FL and funeral mass at San Sebastian Catholic Church 1112 St Rd 16, St Augustine, Florida, Saturday, January 26th 9:00am. Brunch to follow mass with graveside later in the day.
Craig Funeral Home, Crematory and Memorial Park (www.craigfuneralhome.com) is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Roy was my attorney during one the lowest points in my life. I walked out of his office after my first meeting with him knowing that everything was going to be all right. He was a very kind, caring and compassionate person. It certainly reflected in the way he worked with and helped people. Take comfort and solace in the fact that he is with our Heavenly Father.

Lannie mentored and "raised" many bankruptcy lawyers throughout North Florida. I was privileged to have cases with Lannie over the years. He always extended every professional courtesy to lawyers and the utmost respect to the bankruptcy bench. When I first started practicing in the bankruptcy field, Lannie called to welcome me aboard as a practitioner and to offer his assistance and the use of his office when in the area. He was truly an outstanding lawyer and gentlemen. I value especially those times traveling the back roads between Keystone Heights and St. Augustine and Jacksonville when he would share his faith with me. My prayers with his beloved bride and family. Requiescat in pace, my friend, and may the Blessed Mother greet you and lead you into the presence of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Our prayers and heartfelt condolences go out to Joanne, their children and grandchildren. Lansing was an extraordinary man and many will mourn his passing as his was a life of service, love, compassion, and deep faith. We count ourselves fortunate to have called him our neighbor and friend. May he rest in peace and may you always hold onto fond memories of your time together.
