MIKELL VARN Obituary
Mikell Anthony Varn was born in Gainesville, Florida on May 2nd 1971. He passed away October 9th 2012 unexpectedly in Vientiane, Laos while completing a bicycle tour of the Scandinavian countries and Asia.
Mikell was a self-taught chef residing in Los Angeles, California. In the past 9 years he had cooked for 2 presidents and a countless number of celebrities. He was brilliant, spirited, full of boundless energy and he had a huge heart. In the past few years, photography had become a passion and major creative outlet for Mikell. While traveling with his girlfriend Maria, he took amazing photos and documented these travels with a photography blog called http://mikellandmaria.com
Mikell is survived by his mother and step-father, Janice and Gene Goldacker, his father J.T. Varn, his brother Christopher Varn, grandmother Margaret McCleery Varn and his girlfriend & partner Maria Ojala.
Mikell touched so many lives during his time on earth and will never know the positive difference he made in all of them. He will forever be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am on November 2, 2012, at the Milam Funeral Home Chapel of Newberry. In lieu of flowers you may send donations to the Nature Conservancy in Mikell's memory,

I was so saddened to hear of Mikell's passing. May you be VERY VERY proud of his life. He seemed to have the world at his fingertips. Although I never met Mikell I followed his life as I work with his mother. She was so proud of him and we always looked forward to his news of whom he was cooking for. He was following his dream and was very successful at it. He will be so missed by the many, many people whose lives he touched.
