Roy Roig Obituary

ROIG, ROY VENTURA, 83

Alachua - Roy Ventura Roig, 83, resident of Alachua, Florida, died Friday, May 15, 2009, at his home, following a long illness.

Mr. Roig was born in New York City, NY, on August 18, 1925 to the late Ventura and Ada Roig, and was raised in St. Simons Island, GA. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Marine Corps, where he received a purple heart. He moved to Gainesville, graduated with a master's degree in Entomology from the University of Florida, and went on to co-found Florida Pest Control. He was of the Episcopal faith.

Survivors include; his wife, Teresa Juarez Roig; two daughters, Kathy Roig, of Costa Rica, and Libby Roig, of Alachua; two sons, Roy V. Roig, II, of Costa Rica; and Guy Roig, of Alachua. Ten grandchildren also survive.

A memorial service with military honors will be conducted on Thursday, May 21, 2009, at 3:00 P.M., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St.
