LAND, RUBY JANE



Mrs. Ruby Jane Land, more affectionately known as Mama Ruby, 103, of Mayo, FL, passed away Friday July 11, 2008 at the Lafayette Health Care Center in Mayo. Mrs. Land was a native and lifelong resident of Mayo. She was of the Christian Faith and was a member of the Alton Church of God. Mama Ruby was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Land, in 1984, a son, John Land, and 2 daughters, Myrtle Thomas, and Nelda O'Steen.



She is survived by, 3 daughters, Evelyn Koon, and husband Donald, of Mayo, Jean Gregston, of San Diego, CA, and Pat Dykes, and husband Raymond, of Tallahassee, FL, 1 sister, Mildred O'Steen, of Mayo, 16 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 47 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.



Funeral services for Mrs. Land will be conducted at 11:00AM Monday July 14, 2008 at the Alton Church of God with Bro. Kenny Sullivan and Bro. Dale Croft officiating. Interment will follow in the Alton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8PM Sunday evening July 13 also at the Alton Church. Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Mayo is in charge of all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alton Church of God Building Fund or to a charity of choice.
