THOMAS WEBER Obituary

WEBER, DR. THOMAS

JOSEPH, 44

Gainesville - Dr. Thomas Joseph Weber, 44, of Gainesville, Florida passed away on Friday, April 5th, 2013.

"Tommy" was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on March 10th, 1969. He moved to Gainesville, Florida in 1972 as a child. He attended P.K. Young and Glen Springs Elementary schools, Westwood Middle School, and was a member of the inaugural International Baccalaureate Program class at Eastside High School, graduating in 1987, where he played on the Varsity Soccer and Tennis teams. He attended the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts and graduated in 1991. He then returned to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida College of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1995. He moved to Jacksonville, Florida and practiced general dentistry for six years before returning to his beloved Gainesville to start his own dental practice which has been serving the community for the past 13 years. Tommy's interests primarily involved activities surrounding his family and extensive group of friends. His passion for water sports at his family's home on Lake Santa Fe in Melrose, Florida brought him immense joy. He and his family entertained many Gainesville families there for decades. He was an active parishioner at St. Augustine's Catholic Student Center throughout his life and served as Chairman of the Stewardship Council. Professionally, he was a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, Florida Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and Alachua County Dental Association. He served for the ethics peer-review board for the Alachua County Dental Association and he provided donated dental care for the PACE Center for Girls. Dr. Weber was on staff at North Florida Regional Medical Center and served as the Team Dentist for the University of Florida Athletic Department.

Survivors include his wife of 14 years, Dr. Ann Thigpen Weber, his daughters, Sarah Ellen (10), Katherine Elizabeth (8), and son, Thomas Joseph, Jr. (6), his parents, Dr. and Mrs. F. Thomas Weber of Gainesville, and siblings Dr. Timothy A. Weber (May) of Tampa, Dr. Emily Weber LeBrun (Marc) of Gainesville; nieces and nephews; Joseph (Laura) Thigpen, Elise and Andrew Weber, and Annabelle and John Henry LeBrun; mother-in-law Betty Stelle Thigpen and brother-in-law Dr. Lee Thigpen (Cathy) of Crestview.

Tommy will forever be remembered as a loving husband to his best friend and love of his life, Ann, and the most devoted and beloved father to their three children. He was a faithful and adoring son, a caring and generous brother, a playful and funny uncle, and a kind and thoughtful friend to so many. He greeted everyone with a smile and lived the Jesuit philosophy of daily service, always placing the needs of others above his own.

Family will receive friends Sunday, April 7, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 pm at WILLIAMS-THOMAS WESTAREA FUNERAL HOME 823 NW 143rd St. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 8, 2013, 12:00 pm at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 1738 W. So sorry to hear. He was my dentist at one point who took my fear of dentistry away. Didn't feel a thing ! I was looking up dentists for more work, when I saw the article. A good dentist gone. RIP.

Dearest Weber family, I am heartbroken to hear of Tom's death. My son has been one of his patients for many years and Tom always made him feel comfortable doing something no child enjoys. He will be sorely missed by so many. My thoughts go out to all lucky enough to have known him; I am so sorry for your loss.

I was in California when I heard the very sad news of Tom's death. I did not have the privilege of meeting him, but our son, Kirk, went to Westwood and played soccer with him. I have had the wonderful blessing of having had Ann as my physician. Such compassion and caring! We send you our prayers and support during the challenging days and weeks ahead. What to say? I was of the country when my "cousin" Tommy passed away. At my first visit to his office in 2001, I knew he was a kindred spirit of the highest order. We shared fond memories of my Uncle Buddy's Landing on Lake Santa Fe, freckles and a jest for life. Tommy was so proud of his family, and I looked forward to updates as it grew in numbers. He was so involved in making life better for others. My heart hurts for all of you and pray wonderful memories will lift up your spirit.

I am heartbroken to learn of the tragic death of Dr. Weber. I did not know Dr. Weber, however, I did know his father, Dr. Tom Weber, when I worked with him in the Pediatric Clinic, UF Shands Gainesville, in the early 1980s. I always admired and respected this wonderful man and obviously his precious son was just like him. My heart aches for the entire Weber family and I will be praying for God's peace and comfort for each of you. God bless you all.

I had the priveledge of knowing Tom in high school through the hall ways and on the soccer field Tom was very geniune in his greetings and very loyal to his friends. I am very happy and proud to be able to call him a friend. It seems like what I had learned in high school about Tom being a great guy came to fruition in a large way. To the Weber Family and friends my prayers are with you during this time of grief.

April 9, 2013

Dear Weber Family, I am so sorry for your tragic loss. Dr. Weber has donated so many free dental services to the girls at PACE. He could always be relied on when we had an emergency and for years he did a free cleaning every month for our girls. From what I have read, he "walked the walk" in every area of his life and was a role model for us all. He will be greatly missed. I will keep you in my prayers. He will be missed by many and touched more peoples' lives than you can imagine. Truly a remarkable man, father, husband and friend. So sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you during these difficult times.

I met Dr Weber during an appointment I had with Dr Hatcher who I had been seeing since 1967 when I moved to Gainesville. They shared the same office. When Dr Hatcher retired and Dr Weber took over his patients I looked forward to being treated by Dr Weber. After reading his guest book and comments from his family friends I am disappointed that will never take place. Its not how long your life but the value you leave behind. I think I would have enjoyed getting to know him. My condolences to his family and friends

I am saddened to hear that Dr. Tommy has passed away. He had been our dentist for tehse last 8 years. He first saw us one Friday evening when Gabe suffered a tooth injury at daycare at the age of 3. Dr. Ann Grooms, whom my father-in-law, Mickey Bath, worked with at the UF student infirmary, asked him to do a favor and take us in that evening. I am thankful he did and will forever be grateful for his generosity and professionalism. He was always friendly and my three children enjoyed actually going to see him (except Kendall sometimes). I am sorry for your family's loss and pray for a hedge of protection around your family.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

When I think of Tommy a smile comes to my face. We had so many great together. Whether it was studying for a major test or partying after it. We just had such fun together. Great times for sure. Spring breaking together. I mean who rents a car from Rent-a-wreck.
He will be missed but the times we spent together are etched into my memories.
