Bobby Lee Simmons

Bobby Lee Simmons, of Cleveland, deer lover, cat snuggler, world's best hugger, devoted husband and Papaw to five, went to be with the Lord on the crisp, frosty morning of Tuesday, December 3, 2024.



Known for his mischievous eyebrows and epic storytelling, Bobby, age 71, was a devoted husband to Patricia Crews Simmons for more than forty-six years. They met at Lanier Park Hospital in Gainesville when she was a nurse, and he was a Hall County EMT.



Later becoming a Hall County Firefighter, trim carpenter, and master fixer-upper, Bobby's favorite role was dad to two: Courtney Simmons and Emily of Oakwood, and Natalie Simmons White and Jason of Alto. Well, that was until he became Papaw for the first time in 2004. Bobby leaves behind five grandchildren (two sets of identical twins), Mia and Zoe Simmons, Ava Simmons, and Crews and Ryder White.



Bobby, a Gainesville native, was sixth out of the seven children born to Verse and Mary Lessie Simmons, and leaves behind his baby brother, Ray and Wanda Simmons, of Gainesville. Known as the most playful Simmons, Bobby didn't let being one of the youngest keep him from serving and taking care of his large family. He called his sisters and nieces "Doll," and loved planning the Simmons Family reunions.



In lieu of a funeral, the family would like to honor his memory with a family reunion in the Spring, hosted by his daughter at her home. Bobby Simmons will be cremated and ashes buried on his father-in-law's farm in Folkston, Georgia where he spent decades making memories and hunting deer.
