Frank Lee Baker Jr Obituary

Frank Lee Baker Jr., age 64, of Sautee passed away Friday, July 3, 2015.

Mr. Baker was born in Fulton County, the son of the late Frank Lee Baker Sr. and Sarah Adams Baker. He was a native of White County. Frank was preceded in death by his infant grandson, Samuel Chase Ethridge. He was a charter member of Mount Yonah Baptist Church in Cleveland, where he served on many committees through the years.

Frank began an early career in law enforcement at the age of 9, alongside his father who was elected sheriff of White County and served 32 years. Frank received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Eastern Kentucky University in 1973. He then began his career with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation as special agent in Milledgeville, Ga. He later was transferred to Region 8 Gainesville, Ga., and was promoted to special agent in charge where he served until his retirement in 1993. Frank was instrumental in the formation of the Appalachian Drug Task Force where he was Chairman. Any law enforcement officers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Baker, Sautee; daughter and son-in-law, Renata and Jim Ethridge, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Trey and Stephanie Baker, Cleveland; grandchildren, Jake Ethridge, Katie Ethridge, Lee Baker, Emily Baker and Brett Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Mount Yonah Baptist Church. The Rev. Doug Merck, the Rev. Andee Courson, the Rev. Stacy Dyer, the Rev. Dr. John Yarbrough and the Rev. Dr. James Harper will officiate. Interment will be at Gateway Memory Park. The family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Flowers are optional or you may make contributions to Mount Yonah Baptist Church Building Reduction Fund, 882 Asbestos Road, Cleveland, GA 30528.
