Oda R. “Reggie” Weaver Obituary

May 4, 1949-March 28, 2016

Mr. Oda R. "Reggie" Weaver, age 66, of Braselton passed away, following an extended illness, on Monday, March 28, 2016, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016, in the chapel of Memorial Park South Funeral Home. The Rev. Jason Weaver will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.

Reggie was born on May 4, 1949, in Knoxville, Tenn., to his late parents, Oda and Frances Weaver. He graduated from Carson Newman University in Jefferson City, Tenn., with a degree in biology and Tennessee Tech in Cookville, Tenn., with a degree in fisheries biology. In 1976, he accepted a position as a fisheries biologist for the Department of Natural Resources/Wildlife Resources for the State of Georgia, where he worked for more than 31 years, retiring in 2007.

Reggie was a great family man and a loving father. He married Sheri Crews in 1977, and the couple has two children together, Jason Weaver and Chase Weaver. Reggie loved the Lord and loved caring for the world that God has given us. He was deeply involved in wildlife management for the majority of his life. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed anything outdoors.

His family and friends will always remember him as a humble, gentle person.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, Oda Ernest and Frances Weaver.

Reggie is survived by his wife, Sheri Crews Weaver of Braselton; sons, Jason Weaver of Camdenton, Mo., and Chase Weaver of Braselton; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Luce Weaver; grandchildren, Dorian Weaver, Aleythia Weaver and Anastasia Weaver, all of Camdenton, Mo.; brother and sister-in-law, David and Becky Weaver of Maryville, Tenn.; and nephews, Keith Weaver of Covington and Zak Weaver of Maryville, Tenn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be sent to New Tribes Mission, care of Jason and Stephanie Weaver, 1000 E. 1st St., Sanford, Fla.
