Lawrence Leone Obituary
Lawrence S. (Larry) Leone, D.O. formerly of Galion, Ohio, passed away at his home in Rotonda West, Florida on July 2, 2022. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on April 19, 1958, to the late Fred and Elizabeth (Spencer) Leone.
Larry was a man of strong faith. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Galion, OH. He graduated from Good Counsel High School in Silver Spring, Maryland in 1976. He completed his undergraduate studies at Wheeling College in West Virginia in 1980. Larry went on to complete his doctorate at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine in Lewisburg, WV in 1985.
Larry was passionate about sports. He avidly followed Cleveland professional sports teams and was a lifelong Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
Dr. Leone was a family practice physician in Crawford County, Ohio for 33 years. During his career he worked for Premier Emergency Physicians and Avita Hospital and served as medical director of Avita Home Health and Hospice for 27 years. He was a hospitalist and director of inpatient rehabilitation at the Avita Hospital Galion campus. Dr. Leone also served as medical director at Magnolia Terrace, Orchard Park, and Maplecrest assisted living, nursing and rehabilitation facilities.
Dr. Leone is survived by his wife Elizabeth (Guercio) Leone and his children Katherine Leone and Samuel (Leah) Leone of Westerville, OH; Michael Leone of Columbus, OH; and Wendie Bauer of Galion, OH; and grandchildren Lucia, Gabriella, Sophia, and Henry of Westerville, OH and Kelianna Koge of Galion, OH. Surviving siblings include Charles of South Bend, IN; Beti (René Cisneros) of Fresno, CA; Peter (Diane Greig) Rockville, MD; Frank (Loida) of Sterling, KS; Joseph (Barbara Berns-Leone) of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Lucy of Washington, DC. Surviving brothers-in-law include Michael Guercio (Pamela) of Ft. Myers, FL; Bruce Guercio of Tucson, AZ; Richard Guercio (Melissa) of Galion, OH; and sister-in-law Carolyn Wisler (Steve) of Worthington, OH.

So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I remember him well as a 1985 classmate. Enjoyed seeing him through the years at CMEs.

I am so sorry for your loss. As the current Dean at the West Virginis School of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Leone's passing makes us all sad to lose one of our WVSOM family. I did not have the pleasure of meeting him, but it seems like he created an incredible legacy of work and family. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Beth, Larry´s Children & entire Family, I am so sorry for your loss. We all have lost! I´ll never forget when Larry was a new practitioner in town. I went in for an appointment and there he was. He had longer hair, wore a cotton button down shirt, and shorts. He had on white tube socks & Converse tennis shoes. I thought , wow, my doctor is a cool, young hippie! I enjoyed his personality. I came to highly respect, appreciate the level of skill & care he shared. I trusted him. He went above & beyond to serve. Wrap the love & fun, fond memories around you! Praying for all.
