Nancy Laughter Obituary

CHARLOTTE - Nancy Adler Laughter, 67, traded in her steel of armor for wings of gold after a brave battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, two daughters, and her dog, LuLu at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Nancy was raised in Morganton, daughter of the late Moses and Ruth Adler.

She was a graduate of Morganton High School, attended Gardner Web University (where she met the love of her life), and graduated from the Fashion Institute of America in Atlanta. Nancy devoted her life to loving others - especially her husband of 45 years, her two daughters, and her dogs. Full of laughter, love, and always some motherly advice, Nancy never met a stranger. A strong supporter of animal rights and pet rescue, Nancy saved the lives of many animals and provided a loving home for many abused and neglected dogs.

Aside from her parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Michael Laughter.

Nancy is survived by her soul mate and husband Wayne Laughter, her adoring daughters Amy and Julie Laughter, her brother Dr. Barry Adler, and her beloved dogs. She also leaves behind extended family and those she "adopted" that considered her their own mom or sister.

A celebration of life will be held in her honor 4 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 375 Woodlawn Ave., Mount Holly, NC 28210, with visita-tion beginning at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the RescueNCYorkies at 3024 Luke Crossing Drive Charlotte NC 28226.

I miss you more every second that passes. No matter how many times I said it, or ways I tried to express it - there is no way you could have have known how deep my love is for you. Thank you for being a perfect combination of parent and best friend. You were an amazing, loving, funny, selfless, and strong woman. Your battle was cut too short but your fight was courageous and you never gave up for a second. What amazes me most is how you did it all with such a bright spirit. You are my Tiny Warrior-My hero. I love you eternally. Life will never be the same.

Dearest Wayne,Amy,and Julie, I am praying for you all, and can't stop thinking of you. I haven't seen any of you, for years, yet I feel so close to you! I remember Nancy as a lovely, kind, sweet, and intelligent woman, who loved her husband and children ,including her doggie children, more than anything in the world. And, would do anything for them. She has an infectious, warm smile and a loving, energetic personality. I know it will be the hardest thing any of you ever do, to go on with your lives, without her... but she is still with you, and always will be , until you are reunited one wonderful day! I have so many memories of Momma Nancy. She treated me as her daughter for the many years Julie and I were roommates. I will never forget our talks, phone conversations, and memories of shopping with her at Harris Teeter or Bi-lo. She helped find my bedroom furniture, she looked after me and took care of me if I ever needed. I surely will miss her! Rest in peace Momma Nancy! You will always be in our hearts. Julie, Amy and Coach I love you all very much.

Wayne, Amy and Julie: I have so many wonderful memories of Nancy from my nine years at Coulwood, and eight years as your neighbor. And that's exactly the best way I can describe Nancy - a true, good neighbor. She was always looking out for me and always so helpful to me. I still remember esp. her "sympathy" toward the dog next door to me, in the BEST of ways! In fact, I just remember her love and heart for animals in general, but dogs in particular. I can still hear her calling for LuLu and Toto across my backyard when I'd be outside. Coach, I love you tremendously and you and the girls are in my prayers, and my family's, who also sends their condolences. God bless yall and her wonderful memory!

God Took Her To His Loving Home
God saw her getting tired, a cure was not to be.
He wrapped her in his loving arms and whispered ‘Come with me.'
She suffered much in silence, her spirit did not bend.
She faced her pain with courage, until the very end.
She tried so hard to stay with us but her fight was not in vain,
God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain. I love your family as my own. I can't say I know how you feel but I will say if you're family needs anything don't hesitate to ask. I love you all so much.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.
