Ruby Swing

CRAMERTON - Ruby H. Swing, 96, formerly of Kannapolis died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 after a period of declining health.

A funeral service will be held 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 28, 2016 at Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kirk Tutterow officiating. Entombment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum.

Her family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at the church prior to the funeral.

Ruby was born Dec. 19, 1919 in Cabarrus County, daughter of the late Charles H. and Pearl Leach Holloway. She was a life-long area resident and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church since 1935. Ruby was active in the Crafty Ladies, UMW, the Ruth Kale Sunday School Class, and the church Book Club. She was always involved with the annual Church BBQ and Fall Festival. Ruby worked for Cannon Mills for 44 years as a clerk in the accounting, billing and payroll departments. She enjoyed baking, working in her flower garden and sewing. Ruby was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Beecher R. Swing, her sisters; Mildred Holloway and Edith Hall, and her brother, Charles Howard Holloway.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Jeffrey B. Swing (Brenda) of Belmont, her granddaughters Heather Swing of Castro Valley, CA and Amanda Nicholas (Scott), and grandson, Dr. Timothy Swing (Trista) all of Wilmington.

She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; Gabriel Hernandez, Mason Beecher Nicholas, Carter Scott Nicholas, Caroline Swing Nicholas, Eleanor Ruby Swing and Mabel Jubilee Swing, and Ruby's sister, Mary Elizabeth "Lib" H. Wiles of Mt. Holly.
