Ruby Waters Obituary

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - Ruby Mauney Waters, 78, of Four Oaks Health Care, formerly of Iron Station, died June 27, 2011.

Her funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joe Drum officiating.

Burial will be in the Alexis Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Waters was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Gaston County, to the late Dewey M. and Lona Smith Mauney.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Flay Vernon Waters; a daughter, Linda W. Black and a brother, Leroy Mau-ney.

She retired from J.P. Stevens after 27 years of service.

She is survived by a son, James V. Waters of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two daughters, Delores A. Alfaro of Lincolnton and Cynthia Ligon of Garner; three brothers, Kenneth Mauney of Iron Station, Keith Mauney of Mount Holly and Donald Mauney of Iron Station; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 Northwest 9th Avenue, Miami, FL 33136 or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., 2600 Network Blvd., Suite 300, Frisco, TX 75034.

Warlick Funeral Home is serving the Waters family.
