I have the fondest memories of Mr. Reade from days at Deerfield, and the mere mention of his name puts a smile on my face. He was larger than life.

During my post grad year at Deerfield I960-61, Ed Reade was my Spanish teacher. There were 5 of us in his class and he held us all accountable each day. It was a remarkable learning experience for me teaching me the importance of always being prepared.

In 1983 I returned to work at Deerfield and, among myriad duties, I coached the junior squash team. I asked Ed for his most important piece of advice for a novice coach. He replied "Never criticize a player after a loss, only after a win." I have found that advice useful in many facets of life - don't kick 'em when their down! A wonderful, really GOOD man. Requiescat in pace!

Mr. Reade was my Spanish teacher at Deerfield and I greatly enjoyed his classes, he was a gracious soul and I had high respect for him. You have my deepest sympathy. Ron
