Margaret M. Mohr
Easthampton, MA - Margaret M. Mohr (Kessler) 104 (Easthampton's oldest resident) passed away peacefully at Cooley Dickenson / Mass General Brigham Hospital on July 12th, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born at home on East Green Street in Easthampton on March 4th, 1921. Margaret was the daughter of the late William J. and Margaret (Martin) Kessler. She was predeceased by her siblings Phillip Kessler, Alice Kessler, Frank Kessler, Louise Chase, Ruthie Hemmer, and Bill Kessler (She liked to say she was the middle of the pack). She was also predeceased by her husband John, her son Bill, and her Grandsons Jim Mohr and Gary Biardi. She is survived by her children Robert Mohr (Sandy), Richard Mohr, Judy Biardi (Bob) Carol Labonte (Paul). 7 Grandchildren, multiple great and great - great -grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Margie was educated in Easthampton schools and worked for years at Lesnows Manufacturing, and once she retired, she spent countless years sewing, knitting, and crocheting for family and friends. Margaret was an avid Sevens, Pinochle, and Bingo player. She loved playing cards with her kids and grandkids, and Bingo with her sister Ruth. She was the designated supplier of her famous deviled eggs and many parties over the years. One of her favorite holidays was Halloween, she loved to see the costumes, and Christmas when she always spent time with lots of family! Margaret was a lifelong Lutheran, baptized in 1921, and confirmed in 1933. She went to Trinity Lutheran Church on Clark Street in Easthampton since its inception, and once she couldn't attend anymore, Pastor James Rice came to visit her often. She was old school when it came to getting her hair done, she would visit a neighbor down the street, and once he retired, she would head to the Beauty Nook on Pleasant Street where Marianne, and then Julie would do her hair every week, right up until 2 days before she ended up in the hospital! She loved to visit the other ladies in the salon!
Thank you to Cooley Dickinson/ Mass General Brigham Hospital staff for the exceptional care she received, Dr Lauren Schwartz, Dr Vikram Grewal, and Highland Valley Elder Services for the care the last few years (especially Maria) and Lainey for the last 14 years, that helped Judy be able to keep her mother at home for the last 25 years.
Thank you to the Easthampton Police and Fire Department, who sang happy birthday to her during covid, because we couldn't throw her a birthday party. We also got creative, and held a parade for her, with a fire truck, cruiser, family, friends and several dignitaries driving by and waving…..
The funeral will be Friday, July 18, 2025, at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2 Clark Street, Easthampton, Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery. Calling hours will be at the Mitchell Funeral Home, 15 Park Street, Easthampton from 4-6pm on Thursday, July 17th from 4 to 6 p.m.
