Robert Kingsbury Obituary

ROBERT T. KINGSBURY

Westhampton, MA — Robert "Sonny" T. Kingsbury, age 92, of Westhampton, MA passed away peacefully at home in the early morning of August 17th, 2021.

Born February 3rd, 1929 in Bradford,VT, he was the son of the late Robert and Florence Kingsbury. Robert was a graduate of Bradford Academy. He went on to work at various companies throughout his life including Worthmore Feed, Porter & McLeod machine shop, and eventually retiring from Smith & Wesson.

Robert will be remembered as a doting husband to his wife, and a hero to his five girls. He will also be remembered as an amazing provider, making sure that his family was always well taken care of. He could be found making furniture, making sure each of his girls had a hope chest and other gorgeous handmade pieces. Robert had the greatest sense of humor and always would try to get you with a joke or a prank. His favorite memories were made spending time at gatherings, playing games like washers and cornhole, with friends and family. Robert's passion in life was playing golf. He played three rounds of golf a week with friends until he was 89 years young. Robert could always be found with a container of change, ready to "win" a game of cards or to scratch his lottery tickets with. He loved his poodles, a good Western movie, hunting and putting his sons-in-law to work.

Robert leaves behind his beloved wife of 72 years, Joan (Tillotson) Kingsbury. He will be greatly missed by his loving children, Jennie Miller of Westhampton, Penny Dyer of South Hadley, Charlene (and Albert) Lapan of Westhampton, and Bobbie (and Warren) Jones of Westhampton. He leaves behind his adored grandchildren Samantha, Robbie, Nick, Tiffany, Blayne, Fallon, and Terrence. He also leaves behind 10 beautiful great-grandchildren. He will be remembered by his many nieces and nephews from Vermont, Massachusetts and California. He was predeceased by his greatly missed daughter Sheila Lovett, his twin brothers John and Homer Kingsbury and his son-in-law John Dyer.

Robert's calling hours will be Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 from 9:00-10:00 AM at CZELUSNIAK FUNERAL HOME, 173 North St. in Northampton, with an in-house service immediately following at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private at a later time. Due to a policy announcement by the Northampton Board of Health, all guests are required to wear masks. A special man is now flying high with the angels! One of his legacies was the special family he raised with his wife Joan. The entire family would always welcome anyone to their home/ holiday gatherings, etc..and would always make you feel like you were a part of their family. Sending love and hugs to all. Wishing comfort, strength, and peace to everyone during this difficult time.
