Della was born to Albert and Adelia Elley in Seguin, Texas, the youngest of seven children.
At 17, she married and followed her first husband, Malcolm Stuart, to Corvallis where she lived, worked, participated in Lady Elks, Beta Sigma Phi, attended LBCC and raised her children for the next 50 years.
Upon retirement from the OSU Department of Student Housing and Residence Programs in 1994, Della and her husband Alvin Arbuckle took to the road in their RV, traveling to nearly every US state, Canada and Mexico. After Alvin's death in 2006 Della resettled in Corvallis for a few years before once again traveling to Texas, this time with her grandson, Jason. While there she met her friend and travelling companion Allen Razey and they continued the adventure.
When she passed, she and Allen were on the road to Arizona, her favorite winter destination.
Della is survived by her daughter, Tracy Byers (Glen) of Corvallis; grandchildren Kayla of Salem and Jason of Anchorage, Alaska; sister Dortha of San Antonio, Texas; dear friend and companion Allen, her beloved dog Holly, and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her son, Kent Stuart; husband, Alvin; brothers Albert, Melton, Raymond, Gussie, Clarence and her parents.
