Agnes H. DeBroux

1926 - 2025

Janesville, WI - Agnes H. DeBroux, 98, passed away with family by her side on Monday, Jan. 6, 2025, at the Agrace Hospice Center, Fitchburg. She was born July 29, 1926, in Phlox, WI to John and Caroline (Heinzen) Meidl. On May 10, 1947, she married Alphonse DeBroux in Phlox, WI and they would spend the next 36 years growing their family until Alphonse's death on Mar. 21, 1983.

Agnes worked at SSI and Kandu. Her catholic faith was paramount in her life. She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church where she sang in the choir, made quilts for the church raffle (with some being displayed at the Rock County Historical Society), and was a member of the Young People's Society and the St. Anne's Society. She enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, baking, canning, scrabble, cards, puzzles, and crossword puzzles.

Agnes was the mother of 17 children: Judy Haberman, Bernie (Barb) DeBroux, Lois Coulthard, John (Jane) DeBroux, Lenny DeBroux, Arleen (Jerry) Bier, Cecilia (Don) Hladky, Kathy (Ron) Raml, Nancy (Marty) Sloat, Larry DeBroux, Roger (Kari) DeBroux, Pat (Cindy) DeBroux, Laurie (Travis) Sallee, Emily DeBroux, Scott (Kirsten) DeBroux, Steve DeBroux, and Kris (Tim) Failes; she was also Grandma Butterfly to 27 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Caroline Meidl; her husband Alphonse DeBroux; children: Lois Coulthard, Lenny DeBroux, and Larry DeBroux; daughter-in-law Barb DeBroux; son-in-law Brad Adams; and her siblings: Nicklaus Meidl, Marie Waldvogel, Roland Meidl, Eleanor Frisch, Joseph Meidl, Anna Resch, and Wilbert Meidl.

A Visitation will take place on Friday, Jan. 10, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the APFEL WOLFE FUNERAL HOME, 21 S. Austin Rd, Janesville. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2025, at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH, Janesville. A Visitation will take place on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service at ST. PATRICK CATHOLIC CHURCH. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery.
