Maryalyce "Mary" DeBroux

Maryalyce “Mary” DeBroux, died Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Rosalia Gardens.

Mary was born on March 28, 1951 in Milwaukee to the late Clayton and Myrtle (Davitz) Hunt.

Mary was a graduate of Oak Creek High School class of 1969. She completed training at Beauty College of Wausau in 1972 and then worked as a beautician in Merril.

She was united in marriage to Denis DeBroux on October 4, 1969. The couple resided in Antigo, where Denis began his trade as a barber at The Hair Shack. As the business grew, Mary moved to Milwaukee in 1979 to complete her barber training and join Denis at The Hair Shack. The couple enthusiastically served the community as hometown barbers for over 45 years.

Mary will be missed and has been loved here on earth as a loving wife, mother, nana and friend. She expressed often how she felt that the Lord had blessed her life with the most wonderful people to enjoy it with. She treasured the care, the love and the laughter shared.

Mary was a member of Peace Lutheran Church as her faith was so important to her.

Survivors in addition to her husband Denis include a son Josh (Sarah) DeBroux, a daughter-in-law Nicole DeBroux, grandchildren: Sydney, Jake and Andrew DeBroux and a brother Marvin Hunt, along with many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a son Jason, a sister Margaret Lawrence, and a brother George Hunt.

A memorial service for Mary will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at 12:00 PM at Peace Lutheran Church with Pastor David Karolus officiating. Visitation will take place prior to the service at the church from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. 

Strasser-Roller Funeral Home is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in memory of Mary may be directed towards Compassionate Friends of Antigo or Peace Lutheran Ministries.

We know that Mary now joins her loved ones in heaven with her Lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

Mary thoughtfully took the time to write a portion of her own obituary. The following words are hers.

“I decided to write my own obituary as I have no major accomplishments to state. The truth is I did my best. I only ever wanted to be the best wife, mother, and nana that I could possibly be. I loved the Lord and He blessed my life from beginning to end. I didn’t always do or say the right thing; and to anyone I may have hurt, I’m sorry. I wanted to write my own story so I could thank the people who helped me, loved me, cared for me, and laughed with me along the way so I could have a wonderful, happy life. I was blessed with the most wonderful people in my life. Now I join my parents, my siblings, and my son in the presence of the Lord - I pray I am worthy. I can only IMAGINE!”
