Barbara Tullio Obituary
As a teenager, Barbara worked in the Paonia movie theater selling tickets, making and selling popcorn, and working at the concession stand. She graduated from Paonia High School in 1952 and married Guy Henry Tullio, Sr on January 11, 1953. In Denver, Barbara worked as a telephone operator before she and Henry moved to Somerset to start their family.
Family was always Barbara's highest priority. She and Henry raised four children in Somerset and Barbara was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed baking bread, reading suspense novels, sewing, and dancing. Barbara retired from the U.S. Postal Service after working in both the Somerset and Paonia Post Offices.
Barbara loved to travel both domestically and internationally. She and Henry regularly traveled to both coasts visiting their children and grandchildren. Barbara cherished being in the United Kingdom for Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee and meeting her mother's nieces in England. She and Henry also visited Guam, Italy, Scotland, and Ireland.
She was preceded in death by four of her five siblings, and her husband of 69 years, Henry. She is survived by her sister Eileen (Lemoine) Stroh, and her four children Guy Jr. (Kathleen), Candace (Mark) Gritz, Craig (Carol), and Christopher. She has 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Paonia for over 60 years. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in Palisade, Colorado at St. Ann's Mission Catholic Church on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 2:00 pm and a Rosary will be said for the repose of her soul at 1:00 pm. Her internment will be at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado at a later date.
Wear pink, her favorite color, and in lieu of flowers a donation to HopeWest Hospice in Grand Junction in her name is appreciated.
