Dr. Parker delivered me in 1975 and he was my doctor up until his retirement. He was beyond wonderful! Condolences to all his family and friends. Job well done, Dr. Parker.

Anyone who´s life that was in anyway connected with Dr Jim Parker, and perhaps also with his Dad´s, Dr Joe Parker, couldn´t NOT have stories to tell!!!
One immediate story I recall was in 1975, Dr Jim was a physician at the old Delta County Memorial Hospital on Grand Ave & 11th St. in Delta, when I´d gone into labor with my first baby. Due to complications, I´d been admitted there overnight, but Dr Jim wanted me to go to St Mary´s Hospital in Grand Junction because my primary OB doctor was there, so he discharged me. Anyway, Dr Jim called my husband to come pick me up and said we´d be waiting for him in the ER entrance. Les shows up, comes into that entrance , and Dr Jim looks down at my feet/shoes, and says to Les, "I´m glad you got here when you did! I see Bobbi´s got shoelaces, so you´ll be fine when you help her bringing your little Arnold Palmer into the world on your way down!" I´m mystified! And my husband barks out "You mean it´s gonna be a BOY?!?", and Dr Jim just grins. (My husband Les was the golf pro in Delta at the old Cottonwood Golf Course from 1974 to 1993, and the baby was, in fact, a boy! But we didn´t name him Arnold Palmer. Instead, we named him Andrew Palmer Mitchell, the Palmer coming from my maiden name.
(Note: we did make it to the hospital in plenty of time with no issues!)

Dr. Parker delivered me into this world in July 1987, and he was my doctor from then until his retirement. My parents told the story that on the day I was born, my dad brought in some chocolate cake that my mom had made for my brother, who celebrated his 3rd birthday the day before. My parents, my brother, and Dr. Parker were having a piece of cake, when my brother farted. My brother was embarrassed, but it was then that Doc said, "Oh yeah, chocolate cake will do that to you."
I´m sorry for your loss, Parker family. His legacy lives on in the lives he affected, including mine. He was a wonderful doctor.

Dr. Joe Parker brought me into the world and Dr. Jim took over when his dad retired. He did two amazing things for me and I will be forever grateful. I wish I could be there to tell the stories.
