Patsy Potter Obituary
Patsy Jo Potter
May 14, 1940 - July 15, 2021
She was our mother, grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Patsy Jo passed away peacefully at her home in Grand Junction after losing her battle with ALS.
She was born in Grand Junction to Dorothy and Lester Beaird on May 14, 1940, and graduated from Grand Junction High School in 1958, where she formed friendships that would last the rest of her life. After high school, Pat went to work at US Bank until she married and moved to Anchorage, Alaska, with her husband and first "child', her beloved poodle, Gigi, who was by her side for 21 years. She gave birth to her first son there, Troy in 1972, but in 1973 the Grand Valley called her back home.
In 1978, her second son, Cory, was born and she found her true calling as a mother and homemaker. She loved traveling, and spent a great portion of her life traveling all over the world from the top of the Eiffel Tower, to the edge of Niagara Falls, to New Year's Eve at the Sydney opera house. She loved traveling with her family and friends. She also loved shopping, weekly lunches with friends, and playing the slots, especially playing the slots! But her greatest love was always her grandchildren. Nothing was more paramount to her than spending time with her grandkids and nothing was too important that it couldn't wait if it meant a chance to spend more time with them. She was always crawling around on the floor, even with her bad knees, or reading a book and rocking in her chair, creating memories they will carry with them always.
Pat is survived by her brother, Gary, and his wife, Glenda; sons, Troy and Cory; daughters-in-law, Brea and Joy (who she tried to adopt on more than one occasion); severely spoiled grandchildren, Ryland, AJ, Cameron, Brooks, and Olivia, along with numerous other relatives and favorite people.
On July 15, Grandma Pat left this earth and a huge hole in our hearts, but her memory will live on with all the people who would be lucky enough to call her their mother, grandmother, sister, or friend. A graveside service will be held at Orchard Mesa Cemetery on Tuesday, August 3, at 10:00 a.m.
