Beth Eckerman, 97, passed away Saturday August 31, 2024 at the Masonic Home, Bloomington, Minnesota.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 AM Friday September, 27, 2024 at Epiphany Parish-Holy Family, 722 N Adams Ave, Mason City, Iowa, with Rev. O'Connor as Celebrant. Burial will be held in Elmwood St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Thursday September 26, 2024 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City. A Scripture Wake Service will begin at 6:30 PM following visitation.

Elizabeth (Beth) Evelyn Eckerman, the daughter of Ray and Mabel (Sweeney) Barnett, was born April 21, 1927 in Brookings, SD. She attended rural school in Brookings County, and graduated from Brookings High School and South Dakota State University.

Following college graduation, Beth spent a year in dietetic internship, at the University of Minnesota Hospitals. She was then employed, as a dietician, at Park Hospital, Mason City, IA from 1950 to 1955.

Beth married W. Jean Eckerman on August 2, 1952 in Brookings, SD. After her four children were in school, she returned to part time work, as a dietary consultant, at several area nursing homes and related facilities. She was also a nutritionist with North Iowa Community Action Program, retiring in 1993.

Beth was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After the death of her husband Jean in 2013, Beth resided at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Mason City, IA for three years, then moved to Park Terrace Assisted Living in Buffalo, MN.

Beth is survived by her four children, Steve (Darlene) Eckerman, Antigo, WI, Deb (Jon) Pitton, Bloomington, MN, Maribeth Schulke, Maple Lake, MN and John (Amy) Eckerman, Rochester, MN; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; as well as extended family and friends.

Beth was preceded in death by her husband, Jean; her parents and brothers, Lynn, Hugh and Larry; grandson, Jeremy Eckerman, and son-in-law Reed.
