MASON CITY - John A. Muldoon, 90, of Mason City, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.
Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Paul M. Schaefer of the Plymouth Bible Baptist Church officiating. Per his wishes, his body was cremated and there will be no visitation. Interment will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

John was born May 12, 1924, in Beetown, Wis., the son of Joseph L. and Ada R. (Jamison) Muldoon. His family moved to Mason City later that year. John graduated from Mason City High School in 1942.
In August of 1948, John joined the U.S. Army and proudly served his country as a Private First Class, until his honorable discharge in July of 1949. He then served in the Army Reserves for five years.
He was united in marriage to Florence E. Christianson on June 10, 1950, in Albert Lea, Minn.
John owned and operated Muldoon Body shop for 40 plus years, before retiring on July 1, 1995. He enjoyed spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren), and traveling the world with his wife. He also enjoyed Bible reading, fishing, and cars.
John is survived by one daughter, Carolyn J. McCauley and husband Kurt of Mason City and their children, Samantha R. Mead and her husband Robert of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Jake C. McCauley of Mason City, one brother Robert E. Muldoon and wife Norma of Cedar Park, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He also had an adopted son, Michael R. Muldoon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in February of 2010; four brothers: Lyle S. Muldoon, Joseph L. Muldoon, William "Jennings" Muldoon, and Leland L. Muldoon; and one sister: Bonnie L (Muldoon) Swieter.
