Ronnie was one of the most unique people I have ever known. I shared a bedroom with him the first 18 years of my life..... Rick Sherman

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

The family of Ron J. Sherman would like to express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to all of Ron's wonderful, dear friends and relatives that united together for his celebration of life. Ron was an avid pilot, a member of the Planetarium Society, an honest Businessman and skilled mechanic. He loved to read non-fiction on a broad spectrum of subjects, enjoyed the thrill of Skydiving, was a heavy Weightlifter, and had met many of the 1st Astronauts.
"The Mighty Sherman" enjoyed visiting and fishing the Kenai River and deep sea fished in Alaska where he held a true love for the mountains and natural beauty. His artistic talents were many including designing jewelry and drawing.
Ron's admiration for his family was frequently shared with others and his valued friendships were often shared with his family.
Ron's generous, compassionate and gentle ways will remain in our hearts and memories. Our brother and friend will be with us always to love, cherish and hold in our hearts.
Memorial funds will be donated to the Manly and Mason City Libraries for books pertaining to Ron's interests.
....for neither time, nor distance, nor death itself can touch a love that endures forever.
With Sympathy and Love,
Ron Sherman's Family

Our heartfelt sympathy to Irene, Connie, Deanna, Rick, Mary, & June (and extended family) at the lose of your son/brother Ron. Ron always made a point to stop to visit uncle Neil & Barb whenever he was through Des Moines. His attendance at their 40th anniversary and the more recent Sherman family reunion in Colorado will always be cherished memories. We could go on with the many visits to Mason City and what Neil called "shootin the breeze" but simply put nephew & cousin Ronnie was a great guy, gentle spirit, and so wonderful to visit with. We love him & miss him.

I am happy to say I knew Ronny for over 30 years. I remember his mother Irene making us a dandilion salad at his folks home. A new experience for me. Then when he flew his first solo and the plane's engine died south of the Clear Lake Airport so he put it down in a standing cornfield. We went to the Coney Island to settle his nerves. I remember him riding the chopper he put together himself. I have fond memories from when he & his dad Tom ran the DX station by West Park. Just many good memories of paling around together. I will always remember his smile & laugh. He was a good man.

We are so sorry for your loss. We would see Ron frequently when we would visit our brother-in-law Dennis Christensen in Manly. Ron always had a good story to tell about his many adventures. He was one of the most interesting people I know. We lived on VanBuren (the Peterson family} and Sherman's was a BIG part of our neighborhood history. Ron was always included in our family gatherings at Budget Auto. I was so saddened to hear of him passing way to young. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Ron was a very special friend!!! He was interesting, funny, and a very generous man. He would stop by our house and tells us stories about different things he had seen and done in his life. He would also talk a lot about his family who he loved very much. He would be standing outside his home when Terry would return from driving truck and Terry would walk over and they would talk for hours. We will miss him!

It is with a great deal of sadness that I have learned of Ron's passing. It was my great fortune to have known Ron. To me, he actually was one of the kindest and among the very most thoughtful of people I have had the pleasure to have befriended during my lifetime.
My most sincere condolances are extended to his Loving family, and to his, surely many, friends in this world.
My sincerest condolances are extended especially to his sister, Deanna, and to her husband Joe, Kienast, who were classmates of mine at Newman High School. And to all of the rest of those Loved by Ron, if Ron was as special a person to me, occasional friends as we were, how much more special he must be to each of you. Ron was a truly wonderful person.
I can only say that I Loved Ron, he really was one of the best of people I ever have had the blessing to have known. Isn't it beyond Wonderful to know that he is now happy with our Father! He is Free. We were so lucky to have had him with us.....
I shall miss you very much, Ron.
Peace and Love to You my friend,
