Diane Chouinard Obituary

Anacortes - Diane Chouinard passed away on June 21, 2025 peacefully on Guemes Island with her family by her side at the age of 84. She was born in St Paul, MN to Lillian O'Leary and Frederick Hentschel. She lived in St Paul with her family, and after high school she moved with her family to Chicago and San Diego; before they eventually settled in Seattle. Diane attended the University of Washington and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She met her husband William Chouinard at a UW social event, and they eventually married. Diane at the time worked in a lab where she worked with dangerous diseases, and William eventually insisted she quit the job. Diane and William had 2 children. Diane spent her free time working on residential rentals which they owned. She was busy shuttling her husband to and from work at Rainier Bank in downtown Seattle and painting, cleaning, and showing apartments to prospective tenants. William passed away in 1978, so Diane raised her daughter and son while living in various locations like Magnolia and the U-district in Seattle, Kihei in Maui, and Guemes Island near Anacortes, WA. Later in her life, she decided to move to Guemes Island permanently because she loved watching the Guemes Channel marine traffic, and the deer in her yard; and she enjoyed the friendly island community. She lived with stage 4 skin cancer for four years and continued to do the projects she loved such as arts and crafts. Diane always had the most amazing positive attitude, determination, and sense of humor. Her passions were conservation of the environment, nature, and wildlife.

Diane is survived by her daughter Suzanne Marston, son in-law Scott Marston, and her three grandchildren Alexander, Connor, and Ryan.
