Mrs. Beverly Vernell Owen, 97 of 1123 Birch Elmo Road South Boston, Virginia departed this life Friday December 3, 2021 at the Sentara Hospital in South Boston, Va. She was born December 8, 1923 to the late Robert and Virginia Wooden. She was married to Jefferson Owen, who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by a son, Carol Owen, and one grandson, Jerry L. Owens Jr.
She was a member of Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a faithful Mother of the Church, a member of the Sunday School, Deaconess Board, Missionary Ministry, Usher Board, and Kitchen Committee, President of Vacation Bible School, Banister Missionary Convention, Banister Missionary Association for Mt. Grove Women's Ministry and Lott Carey Foreign Missions.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Eldridge (Lawrence) of Sutherlin, Va.; two sons, Jerry L. Owen, of South Boston, Va., and Ronnie E. Owen, of Harrisburg, Va.; seven grandchildren Avery Owen, Vonda Britton, Carroll Owen, Gregory Eldridge, Stephanie Eldridge, Ronnie Owen, Jeffrey Owen, and Derek Howerton; 18 great-grandchildren; one uncle, Roy Ferrell, of Danville, Va.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will conducted on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at 1 p.m. from Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church, South Boston, Va. with the Rev. Maurice Ferrell. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Mountain Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
According to CDC guidelines masks are required for all services.

Oh how I miss my visits with you Ma Vernell! You were always on top of the current events. I'm now back home and it's been stuff with you and Jerry both gone to the best home.
We will hold on to our memories as there are many!
