Everette Myers Obituary


GRETNA, Va. - Everette Willie "E.W." Myers Jr., age 60, of 602 Leftwich St., Gretna, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, at Duke Medical Center, Durham, N.C.
Born Sept. 20, 1944, in Danville, he was a son of Irene Yeatts Myers of Gretna and the late Everette W. Myers Sr.
He was owner of Myers Builders Inc., a member of American Legion Post 232 and the Gretna Ruritan Club. He attended Altavista Church of Christ and Greenbay Christian Church. He was a chief petty officer with the U.S. Coast Guard during the Cuban missile crisis.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a son, Everette Willie "Tra" Myers III of Forest; a daughter, Crystal Denise Myers of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Bobby Myers of Gretna; two sisters, Sherby Ingram and Joyce Dalton, both of Gretna; and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, Earl Myers.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Altavista Church of Christ with Minister Lory Brafford officiating. Interment with military honors by VFW Post 4165 and DAV Chapter 46 will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
