Joan Cousins Schwarz, of Danville, VA passed away January 30, 2024. She was born July 25, 1935, to the late Fred Holmes Cousins and Mary Walker Cousins. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, William U. Schwarz.
She was a graduate of Stratford College, and a member of West End Christian Church.
She is survived by her sister, Freda Cousins Burton, nephew, Douglas W. Burton, nieces, Mary Burton Crane, and Jennifer Burton Brann. She also survives a great nephew, Ryan D. Burton, great niece, Amy C. Turner, and great-great niece, Hunter R. Burton.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Mt. View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to the Danville Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 3352, Danville, VA 24543.

To Joanie's family, I Ave known this wonderful kind lady for most of my life. She and my mom, Rowena Carter, were dear friends for 50+ years.
We lived just down the street, on Brown Lane, from Joanie and Bill for for most of my childhood.
Joanie, was a kind, sweet soft spoken lady. I am just so sorry for your loss. Our loss is Heavens gain.
God bless you during this sad time.
