Ruby Stewart Blackwell

EDEN-Ruby Stewart Blackwell, 78, of 310 S. Hundley Drive in Eden, passed away early Tuesday morning, August 21, 2012 at Hospice Home of Rockingham County in Wentworth. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, August 23, at Draper Christian Church. Burial will follow in Danview Cemetery. Mrs. Blackwell was born April 10, 1934 in Rockingham County, NC, daughter of the late Harry and Odessia Riddle Stewart. She was a member of Draper Christian Church. She is survived by her son, Olin "Skip" Blackwell and wife, Jennie of Eden; one granddaughter, Tabatha B. Deel of Eden; two great-grandchildren, Robbie K. Deel, II and Laura Grace Deel, both of Eden; brother, Carlton Stewart of Eden; and two sisters, Altheia Pruitt of Belmont and Betty Jordan of Oak Ridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Blackwell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday (1 - 2 PM) at Draper Christian Church and other times at the residence, 310 S. Hundley Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, PO Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.fairfuneralhome.com
