Barbara Moreland Obituary

Barbara Jean Moreland

San Angelo

Barbara Jean Moreland went home to see her husband, Doug; her dogs, Snowball, Princess and George; her cat, Garfield; and many dearly loved and missed family members on Tuesday, March 28, 2017.

She was born June 20, 1947, to Mabel Marie and Howard Lewis Patton in Odessa, Texas.

She had five siblings who have passed; and two living: sister Shirley Norwood of Paris, Texas; and brother Bobby Patton of Odessa, Texas.

She married Doug Moreland on Dec. 30, 1964, and had two sons, JR Moreland of Plainview, Texas and Randy Moreland of Monahans, Texas.

Barbara lived her life loving her husband; sons; grandchildren Madison Moreland, Brandon Moreland, Amy Lloyd, Rene Flores, Breanna Huff (the known favorite), Ashlea Sowa, Matt Sowa, Brandon Browning; great-grandchildren Tyler and Camilla Lloyd; and all family-blood or not.

Some might say her claim to fame is being a cafeteria lady for many years in Monahans, Texas (she would want it pointed out when food was homemade and not prepackaged), and being a part of the peanut butter rolls legacy. She was known for her amazing Coca-Cola cake and chicken spaghetti. She loved volunteering for Special Olympics, helping anyone who needed it (regardless if her husband approved it or not) and wearing all things purple/sequined. A lover of Conway Twitty, Elvis, Dr. Pepper, jelly beans and serving others, Barbara was the most kind-hearted woman and touched so many lives.

She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and it was her mission to do what she could to help cure this awful disease.

She donated her body to help medical research and is on her way to Memphis, Tennessee, to continue her work on helping this world.

There will be no memorial service or funeral, as Barbara felt they get way too sad and she didn't want all the crying involved.

Barbara Moreland, the greatest grandma in the world - I love you so much, hug grandpa for me and I can't wait until I see y'all again.

P.S. Save the caramel apples and popcorn balls JUST for me - your pride & joy.

She will greatly be missed and was very much loved by many. I will never forget the snow Ice Cream she made for us on those late nights after snow storms. We love and miss you.
