Luther Marshell Creek

On January 17, 2021, Luther Marshell Creek generous and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully at the age of 83.

Luther was born on March 20, 1937 in Burnet, Texas to Elmer and Mattie Creek. He was raised in Coleman County and went to school in Mozelle. He had 7 brothers Frank, J.D., Thurman, Herman, Nolan, Paul (Bud), Collie and one sister, Neva.

He married Mary Ernestine Wester on August 22, 1956 in Coleman, Texas. Together they raised 3 children, Johnny, David and Loraine.

He lived and worked in Coleman, San Antonio, Ballinger, Bronte and ultimately Sonora, Texas. He started Creek Swabbing and Roustabout in 1984 in Sonora and worked there until he retired in 2010.

On June 5, 2001 Luther married Mary Lou Jimenez and lived with her in Sonora until his passing.

Luther had a passion for cattle and the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved to listen to the Willy's Roadhouse radio station, particularly the song Cattle Call by Eddy Arnold. He spent much of his time with his 3 beloved dogs Mike, Joe and Molly. He was known for his humor, kindness, his compassionate spirit and how much he loved his family.

The family would like to express thanks to Noe and Gladys De La Fuente for their kindness and help, the staff of Lillian M Hudspeth Memorial Hospital, and the Schleicher County Nursing Home.

Pallbearers will be Luther's grandsons Jeremy Surber, Jason Surber, Dustin Creek, Tyler Creek, Kade Creek, Michel Creek, Will Anderson, and Sidney Anderson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Alex Castro, Zeke Gamez, and Noe De La Fuente.

Luther was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Mary, and seven brothers.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou, his son Johnny and wife Sharon, son David and wife Kay, daughter Loraine, daughter Missy and husband Stanley Anderson and son Javiel Jimenez. He had 10 grandchildren Jeremy, Jason, Dustin, Tyler, Abby, Brianah, Kade, Michael, Will and Sidney, and 7 great-grandchildren Kendall, Jacey, Hagen, Emma, Hudson, Gentry and Easton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sutton County Food Pantry at 704 Glasscock or the Sonora Ministerial Alliance at 111 E. Oak.

Visitation will be at Love Funeral Home Wednesday January 20, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Sutton County Pavilion next to the Sutton County Civic Center on Thursday January 21, 2021 at 1pm. Online condolences may be made at lovefuneralhome.net

My sincere Condolences on your loss. Mr. Creek was indeed a gentle soul who truly shared what family and life was all about. I am glad I was priviledged to get be friends with him and Mary. David and Lorraine, you two were always the ones I remember being with him whenever we crossed path's. May God be with all of you as you continue to grieve this great loss.
