LYDIA WITCHER Obituary

CRANE - Lydia I. Witcher, 88 of McCamey and formerly of Grandfalls, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in the Odessa Medical Center Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the First United Methodist Church in McCamey with the Rev. Earl Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the Tamarisk Cemetery in Grandfalls. Mrs. Witcher was born on Nov. 14, 1917, in Cannon Falls, Minn. She had been a resident of McCamey for 20 years. Lydia had moved to McCamey in 1985 from Grandfalls, where she had lived since 1947. She was a member of the Union Church in Grandfalls and had taught Sunday school for over 20 years there. After moving to McCamey she became a member of the First United Methodist Church. Lydia was preceded in death by her husband, James Douglas Witcher on Sept. 13, 1980. Lydia is survived by two sons, Jimmy Witcher and his wife, Mary, of McCamey, and Robert Wayne Witcher of Abilene; a daughter, Janet R. Witcher of Odessa; one brother, Don Otterness of Altamont, N.Y.; two sisters, Myrtle Nord of Northfield, Minn., and Edith Esterby of Cannon Falls, Minn.; two grandsons, John Witcher and his wife, Betty, of Raleigh, N.C., and David Witcher and his wife, Jennifer, of Cypress; and three great-grandchildren, Christy, J.P., and Michael Witcher, all of Raleigh, N.C. Pallbearers will be J.H. Bowden, J.D. Stocks, Jim Sears, David Wallace, the Rev. Ted Creech and Jack Phillips.
