Ray Smallwood Obituary

Mr. Ray Smallwood, age 90, of LaGrange, passed away on Feb. 19, 2023. Mr. Smallwood was born on May 28, 1932 in DeMossville, Ky. to the late J.W. Smallwood and Leah Neal Smallwood. In addition to being a farmer for most of his life, he was also a Postmaster in Kentucky from 1966-1998. Golf was Ray's favorite pastime and he played every chance that he had.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edward Delmont Smallwood and Lillian Smallwood Brown.
Survivors include his wife of 73 years, Opal Joyce McClure Smallwood; children, Terry Lee Smallwood and Sandy Smallwood Blair (Rev. Paul Blair); grandchildren, Justin Paul Blair, Erin Smallwood Wathen (Jeremy Michael), Jamin Baxter Blair (Michelle Woodfin) and Christopher Howard Smallwood; great-grandchildren, Isabelle Grace Blair, Haley Margaret Blair, Grayson Baxter Blair, Abbey Gray Blair, Pryce Everett Blair, Harper Sebree Wathen and Silas Ray Wathen.
Graveside services will be held Friday, Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Hill Crest Cemetery in Dry Ridge, Ky. Family will receive friends on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home in Dry Ridge, Ky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or to the WellStar West Georgia Hospice at www.westgeorgiahospice.org.
Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand and Eckler-McDaniel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
