He is survived by his wife, Marlene Boles Miller of Helena; children Broc (Jen) Miller of Fort Benton, Brant Miller of Helena, Joline Miller of Denver, Leeda Miller of Death Valley, Calif., and Amber Duthie of Cut Bank; his parents, Ben and Doris Miller of Dearborn; a brother, Don (Kathy) Miller of East Helena; a sister, Connie Miller of Helena; a grand-son, Benjamin Miller; his father-in-law, John Boles; brothers-in-law Terry (Jerri) Boles and Glenn Boles; nieces and nephews Christi (Joe) Knowles, Mike (Mandy) Arnell, Shaun Arnell, Erica Miller, Patrick (Misty) Boles, Tyvan Boles and Kristin (Dustin) Boles; and numerous extended family mem-bers and friends.
Dave was born in Great Falls on Nov. 24, 1953, to Ben and Doris Miller. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and tech welding school at the University of Kansas. While attending high school, Dave was a linebacker for the Great Falls Bison.
He worked as a welding foreman and was retired with 20 years of service for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Railroad Workers.
Dave had his own personal relationship with the Lord. He was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. As each new season of the year came, Dave would always say it was his favorite time of the year because of what he was able to do. When fishing or hunting, Dave always shared his knowledge and adventures with family and friends. When anyone needed a lending hand, Dave was always first in line to help. Always a smile on his face, and a twinkle in his eye, he was bigger than life and touched every-one he met.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Clarence and Elizabeth Miller, and Les and Elma Reece; an uncle, George Miller; and a nephew, Don Miller Jr.
Memorials in Dave's name are suggested to the Dialysis Unit at St. Peter's Hospital, 2475 Broadway St., Helena, MT 59601.

I miss you Uncle Dave, it’s hard to believe that you are really gone. I am blessed to have spent the time I did with you and to really get to know what kind hearted person you really are. I will never forget the memories that you have created for my family and I. Having you around just made me realize just how lucky Broc, Brant, Jolene and LeeDa were to have you as a dad. Please make sure that you take good care of DJ and leave some fish and elk for us when we get there.

Love always your nephew and family,
Mike Arnell

P.S. Tell little DJ that I still love him and miss him.

I love you Dave and I will miss you greatly. I loved your sense of humor, your laughter, and your teasing. I will never forget when we were kids, I used to lay on your chest and feel secure, you'd say "Its going to be ok". I will miss you calling me snuggles whenever I gave you a hug. I will miss all your teasing me about mice. You may be gone from my sight, but you will always be in my heart and memories. I love you, Dave and will deeply miss you, your loving sister.

My Darling,

We started off together in the 8th grade , and have had small interruptions ... but we always found our way back to each other.

Thank you for the many wonderful years , and the sharing of our 5 beautiful children. I promise you that I will continue loving and caring for them the way that we did together.

I miss you deeply. Knowing that we will be together again one day, is what is helping me get through this.

Your loving wife,
Marlene

Dave will always have a place in our family's heart as he was one of the first people to contact us when Dad died last year. Dave was so thoughtful by making a beautiful welded cross to place at the accident site. We will never forget his kindness. Our hearts go out to the family. We imagine that Dad (Gene Townsend-former GFHS teacher) and Dave are having some great conversations about hunting in Heaven and now Dad can thank him personally for the handmade cross. May you all find comfort over time, in the wonderful memories and look forward to all meeting again in the future.
