Joy Langley Obituary

Joy Elaine (Golie) Langley, 68, of 119 Sharon Drive, died of breast cancer Tuesday at Peace Hospice.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Croxford Funeral Home and Crematory. Her memorial service is 10 a.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Lawn Memorial Chapel, followed by a reception at the Sons of Norway Hall.
Joy is survived by her husband, James Langley of Great Falls; daughters Stephanie (Bill) McPhail of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Susan Langley (Mark Zimmerer) of Boise, Idaho, stepmother Anna Golie of Great Falls; sisters Phyllis Mantz of Great Falls and Linda Lucy of Stanfield, Ariz.; a brother, Rick Golie of Great Falls; and her grandchildren, Colton and Madison McPhail and Tenje Zimmerer.
Joy was born Aug. 13, 1941, in Great Falls, to Richard and Minnie Golie. She was raised and educated in Great Falls, and graduated from Great Falls High School in 1959.
She married James Langley in Great Falls on June 26, 1960.
Joy was a homemaker, mother and grandmother, and also a partner with her husband's businesses. She was a committed volunteer to many causes, and served many positions in the Sons of Norway, as a guardian in Job's Daughters, and was a leader of the Bluebird and Campfire girls.
She was a lifelong, active member in the Community of Christ Church, and enjoyed sewing, reading and bowling. She loved all animals.
In addition to breast cancer, Joy struggled with multiple sclerosis for 14 years, but she was always positive, cheerful and always said she was doing "just fine."
During her stay at Cambridge Court and Missouri River Manor, she brought much joy and truly brightened the days for her fellow residents and all the staff.
Memorials in her name are suggested to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, 60 East 56th St., 8th Floor, New York, N.Y. 10022; or to the Humane Society of Cascade County, P.O. Box 1774, Great Falls, MT 59403.

What a wonderful, loving person was Joy our cousin and daughter of our favorite Aunt Minnie. They were so much alike -- long suffering yet a delight to be around and now joined again in eternal life. What a comfort and assurance to be connected to her by family ties and knowing how much better we are from knowing her! Lyman & Susie Threet, Tucson, Arizona
