Gerhartz, Ione

Ione Betty Gerhartz, 88, Green Bay, died peacefully at a local hospital on June 14, 2015. Born on January 27, 1927, in Appleton, she is the daughter of the late George and Martha (Neunfeldt) Baer. On June 25, 1947, she married Robert Gerhartz in Little Chute, and he preceded her in death on August 11, 2005. Ione was a long-time employee at H.C. Prange and Prange Way. She enjoyed feeding the birds, and was an avid shoe and salt-n-pepper shaker collector. Ione had a great sense of humor, and cherished spending time with family, especially her great grandson, Jake. She will be remembered for her kind gifts of candy to friends and family. She was also a long-time member at Saints Peter and Paul Church.

She is survived by three children, Mary Ann Morrow, Green Bay, Carol Kruse (special friend, David Pribyl), Little Suamico, Curt Gerhartz (special friend, Christine), Green Bay; seven grandchildren, Beth (Jeff) Vandervelden, Brian and Susan Gerhartz, Kevin, Debbie, Jodell, Jessie, and Zachary; 15 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one brother, Ebbie Baer; and one sister, Marian Riechelt.

Visitation at Malcore (East) Funeral Home, 701 N. Baird St., Thursday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Parish wake service 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until the procession to church. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 710 N. Baird St., with the Rev. Patrick Gawrylewski, OFM officiating. Burial at Nicolet Memorial Gardens.

I was sorry to here about your Mother's passing. She was a wonderful, kind, and fun-loving person. I have many fond memories of both your parents. Ione and Bob were great role models for their children and grandchildren. She was a close friend, and we will miss her dearly. I hope see is dancing with your Dad in heaven. Ione was a very special person. I really enjoyed talking with her at Family Night at BC's. She included Amber and I in family get togethers as if we were part of the immediate family. Just a very special lady whom I will miss very much. Heaven is gaining a very beautiful smile and wonderful laughter. Prayers to the family.

My condolences to your family. I worked with Ione at Prange Way and she was such a nice person. When I knew she would be there, I looked forward to going to work. I saw her a few months ago while shopping and it was wonderful to talk to her again. She was a special person.

Can't believe we won't see that smiling face again in this world. My heart breaks for her family and all who had the privilege to know her. Sweet and kind and gracious, her presence commanded everyone's respect without her having to utter a word yet she could be as silly and irreverent as the best of 'em! Thoughts of her these past few days start with sadness but quickly turn into smiles and chuckles at memories of conversations we've had. So it is with the utmost of honor and humor that I say ~ Until we meet again, 'Tuck n Roll, Grandma!' You will be so very missed!
