Patrick May Obituary

Patrick May

Patrick Richard May, 42, of Sturgeon Bay, died unexpectedly at home on September 2, 2012. Patrick was born on May 4, 1970, in Sturgeon Bay, to Karl and Erika (Fleig) May. He graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School and earned his Bachelor's degree in biology from UW Stevens Point. For 13 years he was a Sturgeon Bay firefighter. After his graduation from Stevens Point until the time of his death, Patrick worked with his father, Karl, at May Realty as a Realtor and tax preparer. He was a licensed Real Estate Broker and member of the Door County Board of Realtors, Wisconsin Realtors Association, National Association of Realtors and National Association of Tax Practitioners. He was also a former member of the Sturgeon Bay Rotary Club. Patrick was a compassionate, loving and caring father, son and brother who is sadly missed by family and friends.

Patrick loved spending time with his children, attending Badger games, especially the flights with the Sowles, going to White Sox games with the Viti family and reminiscing with family around the kitchen table. He was active in many sports during high school and was a trombone player in the band. He loved to play golf, participate in Fantasy Football and most recently sail the sunfish in the bay. More importantly, Patrick loved attending Sunday Church with his parents and breakfasts that followed.

Survivors include a daughter, Sophia; a son, Brody, both of Sturgeon Bay; parents, Karl and Erika May, Sturgeon Bay; sisters, Tia (Scott Bellisle), Algoma; and Gretchen (Mike Cihlar), Sturgeon Bay; and one brother, Erik (Shawn), Sturgeon Bay; nephews, Drew (Kendell) Kramer and their daughter, Jordan; Derek Kramer and his daughter, Iris; Emmett Cihlar; and niece, Lilly Cihlar. He was preceded in death by his older brother, David; uncle, Thomas Fleig; grandparents, Richard and Helene Fleig, Bernard "Pat" and Dorothy May, and his favorite uncle, Leon May.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 8, 2012, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Douglas Leonhardt, Rev. Carl Schmitt, and Rev. Robert Konkol O.F.M. officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. The family will also greet visitors after mass at church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for Patrick's children at North Shore Bank (225 N. 5th Ave.). Forbes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Such sad news. Patrick's professional support through the years was excellent and very much appreciated. Unfortunately I didn't have the opportunity to get to know him well but always was impressed by his friendliness, good sense of humor and sunny disposition. My thoughts are with his family, and especially with his dear children.
