BILLY EDWARD WOODARD GREENSBORO Mr. Billy Edward Woodard, 81, died Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Forbis and Dick N. Elm Street Chapel with Rev. Tim Miller officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Holly Hill Cemetery, Thomasville. Mr. Woodard was born on August 18 1932 in Davidson County, a son of the late Dock Lee and Fannie Gertrude Durham Woodard. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. A U.S. Army veteran, he served with the Rangers during the Korean Conflict. He retired following 45 years as owner of Woodard and Associates. He was a 32 Degree Mason, a Shriner and supported many non profit organizations. Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Woodard of Greensboro; four children, Lekita W. Essa of Raleigh, Connie Thames and husband Phil of Cary, Janet W. Bugbee and husband Bill of Ponte Vedra Beach Fl., and Billy E. Woodard, Jr and wife Suzanne of Brown Summit; grandchildren, Kelly Thames, Blake Bugbee, Megan Houts and husband Brandon, Kendall Bugbee, Jake Woodard, Gwen Woodard; two great grandchildren, Austin and Cheyenne. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five siblings. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Forbis and Dick, N. Elm Street.
