LIBERTY Charles "Ken" Kenneth Staley, 78, of Liberty, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at Clapp's Nursing Center in Pleasant Garden. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 5928 Macedonia Loop Road, Liberty, NC. Ken was the son of the late Arthur Ernest and Villa Shoffner Staley, and was also preceded in death by brothers, Ted Staley, Dean Staley, and Hubert "Bud" Staley; and sisters, Thelma Osborne, Ruth Hicks, Patsy Smith, and Peggy Jones. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Smith Staley; daughter, Debra Staley Hunter Garwood (Bill), of Burlington; sons, Kent Staley (Andrea), and Tommy Staley (Connie), both of Staley; sister, Linda Gilmore (Bill); and brothers, George Staley (Patty), Gwynn Staley (Dee); sister-in-law, Norma Staley and Rosalie Staley; and brother-in-law, Bill Hicks. Ken also leaves behind six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Ken was a 1958 graduate of Nathanael Greene High School and loved sharing fond memories of playing basketball and baseball. He was a long-time member of Macedonia Baptist Church and always enjoyed gospel music and singing in the choir. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and playing golf. He held a lifetime membership with the NC Wildlife Commissions and the NRA. He was a friend to all and enjoyed helping others. He was employed with the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and later owned his own company for 38 years, sales and installation of bleachers. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Clapp's Nursing Center for the loving care they provided him.
