Mitch Harris

Mitch Harris, 62, of Summerfield, passed away Monday, November 10th, 2025, after a short illness. Mitch is survived by his loving wife of almost 30 years, Yolanda, his children Grant (Caroline) and Elisa (Daniel), fur baby Daisy, his brothers Dean (Kathy), Glenn (Patricia), Don, sister-in-law Maricela (Lynn), and brother-in-law Cesar (Emilce). He is preceded in death by his father, Lonnie, his mother, Dicie, and sister-in-law, Lisa (Don).

A Guilford County native, Mitch graduated from Northeast Guilford High School, where he played on the football, wrestling, and track & field teams. He went on to pursue employment at various distributing and manufacturing companies before joining the Greensboro Police Department. Mitch served multiple posts at the Greensboro Police Department, to include being a founding officer of the Police Neighborhood Resource Center and a youth detective. Upon his departure from law enforcement, Mitch worked at the Town of Kernersville and the NC Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company. Outside of work, Mitch enjoyed playing his guitar, watching sports and westerns, and spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Glenwood Church (2400 Old Chapman St. Greensboro, NC 27403), with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Piedmont (4527 W. Wendover Ave. Greensboro, NC 27403).
