Sidney Campbell of Greensboro, NC, 94, passed away peacefully August 26, 2022.

Sidney was born in Greensboro, NC, to Bertha and James Campbell, September 28, 1927. He was one of nine children, and the last of the siblings to pass away.

Sidney graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill and was a fervent Tarheel fan his entire life.

He began his career with the IRS in Asheville, NC. He moved to Greensboro, worked with several CPA firms, and later established his own firm, Sidney Campbell, CPA on Green Valley Road. He proudly served prominent corporations and families for decades.

As a young man, he joined the National Guard and later was in the National Guard Reserves, earning the rank of lt. colonel upon retirement after more than 25 years of service. He loved serving his country.

Sid was an honorary member of Summit Rotary Club, to which he contributed to increase scholarships. He endowed McKnight Scholarships to two Guilford County High Schools: one at Smith High School in his name and one at NW Guilford in Anne Murr's name. He was a lifelong member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, where he contributed lovingly to the needs of the church.

Sidney is survived by his son, Gary Campbell of Greensboro; Gary's son, Patrick of Freiburg, Germany; and Patrick's mother, Maggie Campbell. He is survived by his former wife, Reita Campbell. He is also survived by his daughter, Susan Conly; son-in-law, Michael; and their son, Harrison Conly of San Antonio. Sidney is survived by his longtime love and partner in life, Anne Murr of Greensboro.

There will be a graveside ceremony Saturday, September 3, at 1 p.m., at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N. O'Henry Blvd. Family and friends are welcome. A memorial service will be set at a future date.
