GREENSBORO Susan Bennet Stack, 57, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2019 from complications of early-onset Alzheimer's. Susan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on April 27, 1961 to Dr. John and the late Martha Bennet. At 19, she moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she met her late husband and the love of her life Gerald "Jerry" Stack. Susan and Jerry married in 1985 and Susan accepted Jerry's three children from a previous marriage, Carrie, Jenny, and Matt, as her own. Susan and Jerry moved from Jacksonville, FL and settled in Greensboro NC where Susan found work that she loved in the arts, having worked at the Greensboro Symphony, and later at the United Arts Council. Susan is survived by her father, Dr. John Bennet, her brothers John, Jr. (Susan) and Steve (LeeAnn), her children, Carrie (Matt), Jenny (Jeff), and Matt (Jen), grandchildren Jacob, Stephen, Jamie, Ben, Tess, Callan, and Kinley, 8 nieces and nephews, and 6 grandnieces and grandnephews. Susan's family would like to thank all of the caregivers who loved and took such wonderful care of her, especially those at Pennybyrn at Maryfield, Hospice of the Piedmont, and Heritage Greens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Hospice of the Piedmont, or Pennybyrn in her memory. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 4th 11:00 a.m. at Pennybyrn Chapel. Hanes Lineberry Sedgefield Chapel is assisting the Stack family.
