Tommy Andrews Obituary

GIBSONVILLE Tommy Lee Andrews, 85, of Gibsonville died at Shannon Gray Rehabilitation and Recovery Center in Jamestown on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at 8:00 p.m. A native of Guilford County he was the son of Russell Lee Andrews and Elsie Mae Byrd Andrews, both deceased. Tommy was a graduate of Elon College in 1959. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Battalion 10 stationed in Germany. He taught for 34 years at McLeansville Middle School and Northeast Guilford Middle School. Tommy was a member of the North Carolina Association of Education, National Educational Association, and Classroom Teachers Association. He was a member of Gibsonville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his caregiver, Mary Ann Hodgin of Jamestown; his brother, Terry Andrews and wife Catherine of Mebane; his sister, Betty White of McLeansville; his sister in law, Virginia Andrews of Gibsonville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Andrews and his sister, Margaret Ingle. A graveside service will be held at Gibsonville City Cemetery on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. Sybil R. Parks. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Dr, High Point, NC 27262 or Gibsonville United Methodist Church, P.O Box 82, Gibsonville, NC 27249. Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be offered at www.richandthompson.com.
