Clarence Brent Golightly, 70, of Clemson, SC, passed away Wednesday, May 30th, at Greenville Memorial Hospital. Mr. Golightly was born in Inman, S.C. on April 30, 1942, a son of the late James Robert Golightly, Sr. and Grace Eliza Hines Golightly. He was the loving husband of Carol (McDonald) Golightly.

He had retired as a regional sales manager for the Landoll Corp. and spent his life as a successful businessman. He was a proud graduate of Wofford College, a first lieutenant in the US Marine Corp and member of Inman United Methodist Church. He was an incredible man who loved his family, friends and especially his precious grandson, James.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Carissa Hood-Pope and her husband Jay of Central, SC, a sister, Jane Golightly Bottsford and her husband Dr. John Bottsford of Spartanburg, SC, a brother, James Robert Golightly, Jr of Inman, SC, a niece, Janna Leigh Bottsford, two nephews, John E. Bottsford, III., and James Bradley Bottsford, his mother-in-law, Lillie Stasney McDonald of Central, SC ,brother-in-law, Steve McDonald of Harrison, Ga. and his special grandson, James Russell Pope, IV.

A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 2:30 PM at Seawright Funeral Chapel in Inman, SC conducted by Rev. Ron Leonard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be private. The family will be at the home of Jane & Dr. John Bottsford, 1003 Seven Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Inman United Methodist Church Shiloh Fund, 27 Bishop St., Inman, SC 29349. An online guest register is available at: www.seawright-funeralhome.com

We were so sorry to hear of Brent's passing. I enjoyed working with him for those years on the Leeward Landing Board of Directors. He was so active and involved, and gave so much of himself to make it a good place to live. May God bless and comfort you in your loss.
