Emily O'Dell Obituary
Laurens
Emily Craig O'Dell, 88, of 5608 Ekom Beach Road., went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, January 5, 2015. Her husband of 65 years, Paul, and her children were by her side.
Born in Aiken, SC, she was a daughter of the late Theodore and Minnie Thurmond Craig. Mrs. O'Dell retired as secretary from Ware Shoals High School. A member of Union Baptist Church, she was very active in her church and held many positions of service with a heart for the youth. She loved the church and community neighbors and was always sending cards of encouragement. She was instrumental in the support of Paul during his many years of service to Laurens County.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Smith O'Dell; a daughter, Paula Gray and husband Cecil of Greenwood; sons, Craig O'Dell and wife Jan of Chapin, and Jerry O'Dell of Seneca; a sister Jean Cain of Aiken; grandchildren, Jay O'Dell and wife Jennifer, Janna Brown and husband Donnie, Anna Detwieler and husband Nick, Menke Gray, Adam O'Dell, and Paige O'Dell; and great grandchildren, Lucas and Jacob O'Dell.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a step-grandson, Robert Jay.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Union Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chris Garrison and Rev. Chris Hudson with burial in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the residence and will receive friends at The Kennedy Mortuary Tuesday, January 6, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
Memorials may be made to Union Baptist Church Cemetery Trust Fund, 536 Old Quaker Church Road, Laurens, SC 29360.

I am so sad about Mrs. Emily passing from this old world, but one thing is sure, she is singing with the Angels in Heaven now, and I am so glad that I was able to visit you two awhile back, and sing her a song. Both of you are and were very special to me.
