Ernest James Obituary

Ernest Dock (Ernie) James, 62, of 165 Redland Ranch Road, Walhalla, S.C., died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at Oconee Medical Center.

A native of Richland, S.C., Mr. James was the son of the late Ed and Austeen Scoggins James. He was retired from the South Carolina Army National Guard, where he served for over 41 years and attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major, which is the highest enlisted rank in the military. He was also member and Past Master of Seneca Masonic Lodge 185. Mr. James was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. James is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Mason James; son, Michael James and his wife Lindsay; grandson, Cody James; granddaughter, Ava James, all of Westminster; daughter, Stacey James of Seneca; brothers, Joe Burgess of Phoenix, Ariz., Johnnie James of Seneca, Ronnie James of Demorest, Ga.; and sister, Barbara Moore of Seneca.

In addition to his parents, Mr. James was predeceased by daughter, Laura Michelle James; and brothers, Gene James and Donnie James.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, from Oconee Memorial Park in Seneca.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010, at Davenport Funeral Home.
